Finding Plagiarism, Central Michigan U. Will Return $619,000 Grant to NSF
Central Michigan University has agreed to return $619,489 to the National Science Foundation after concluding that two members of its mathematics department plagiarized material both in a grant application and in the resulting project, which was intended to help improve the education of secondary-school math teachers.

I would hope that Central Michigan eventually decides to identify the guilty parties for this sad mess, since in the meantime all 7 faculty members with involvement in the project are operating under a cloud of suspicion. Perhaps NSF needs to begin employing software along the lines of Turnitin as part of its grant review process. As the saying goes, there's no honor among thieves. It also seems to be the case that the only way to smoke them out is for everyone to pay.
